Tale As Old As Time - The Great Masquerade
Faith was the fault that brought me Hell
Cinder blocks on my back as it broke my shell
Agony was the only poison left
So I chose it over and over again
I say nobody knows what the devil was like
Only I've seen him at his worst so I
Repeat what the reapers grimly say
"Cut the vein baby girl, Oh don't you cave"
I drew a cross over every thing I touched
Midas possessed fingers turned my gold to rust
I say I don't want this but I know he does
Who am I to waiver all this cold blooded lust?
Broken are the pieces of this puzzle of death
Symmetrical gashes turn my blue blood red
I say this with every breath I have left
I've been chasing tyrants who want me dead
Now I'd rather be haunted by who I thought you'd be
But who'll pay the ransom for my embroidered fantasy?
No tellers of my fate, would say I'm worth the price
But would you still have me when the wine runs dry?
The labyrinth changes every time I turn
Tale as old as time but with endings forged
It hurt to sleep so every night I donned
Every reminder of the lessons I never learned.
