Kingdom Come - The Fall of the Blackbird
I drew blanks from the start and I should've gone home
Followed the road not run, I paved for my downfall
My faith was gone, killed to a silence
And the death march trance followed me to the fortress
I see my kingdom come crashing down
And I hear battle cries like silent sirens
In my soul, it bleeds me blue
So I hide away, deep in the walls
Cold and frail
I polish my blunt knives and throw on my tilted crown
Played both sides of the war, now my whole empire's gone
My faith was flawed, down to the worship
My bones were once bronzed, now they're fragile and overrun
I see my kingdom come crashing down
And I hear battle cries like silent sirens
In my soul, it bleeds me blue
So I hide away, deep in the walls
Cold and frail
I dealt the final blow, watched your ships leave my harbour
All alone, my reign turns you to stone
My palace, so lovelorn, and haunted to a close
My friends, now foes who bolted at the crack of dawn
The air was warm, I turned elusive and it stung hard
You felt betrayed and fought, guarding my golden gates
I see my kingdom come crashing down
And I hear battle cries like silent sirens
In my soul, it bleeds me blue
So I hide away, deep in the walls
Cold and frail.
