the ghost in my window - the aftermath
I boarded the freight train with nothing to lose
My compass and I we know where to hide clues
Silence's like pirates they shine
Like diamonds in the ocean blues
Star gazing through all the holes in the roof
Luck only comes unto you if you lose
Crystals in bathtubs, in hair and in shoes
Oddity is the only path you'd choose
I soared like a falcon across the red sky
Picked every petal apart, he thought I
Died on the side of a road no one goes by
Left alone even in the afterlife
Farther and farther I swim like I'm trying
To find the edge of the world but my old spine
Is bejeweled in the rhinestones of my
Favorite crimes
I felt a flame of feeling but the wind blew the fuse
Bereft of a cleansing I dived into the pool
Full clothed, hair up, sanctimoniously true
Living on a prayer is of no use
The ghost in my window looks a lot like me
Pale as the sands of the beach, Normandy
Forgive my soul mate she doesn't know that I'm here
And I'm only left with the spirit of wanting reason
The only train left my station oh so hastily
I sat there in the rain afraid if I leave
My ticket to freedom would go to waste
And the depth in my perception would fade.
