Wasteland - STARDUST
I'm staring at the passing headlights hoping my driveway, they'll turn into
I wish I had trusted my untrusting gut and missed the train that leads to you
But you've made me deserve it and I need your forgiving
I can't stop thinking about the stars left uncounted
And that ethereal feeling of solidifying hope and salvation
But where do we truly stand, baseless on holy grounds and wonderlands
Where one of us could easily fall through the cracks and find ourselves in a wasteland
I wish you would erase yourself from my memories completely
It's hard to soldier on when I'm buried under the weight of it all
The blankets no longer singe my skin but melt away the essence of you on them
And so I watch with patient anticipation as you leave forever riding into the horizon
I can't stop thinking about the stars left uncounted
And that ethereal feeling of solidifying hope and salvation
But where do we truly stand, baseless on holy grounds and wonderlands
Where one of us could easily fall through the cracks and find ourselves in a wasteland
The city sparkles against the starless twilight sky
From afar it could be another galaxy just a few miles away
I'm ankle deep in quicksand and my body refuses to co-operate
Unlocked doors seem sealed shut and I can't escape
All tears that I have held back is suffocating me now
My voice is failing and my heart is trying to break out
I take a deep breath and hold it for as long as I can
The reverberating pulsation in my head echoes like the drum of a marching band
I can't stop thinking about the stars left uncounted
And that ethereal feeling of solidifying hope and salvation
But where do we truly stand, baseless on holy grounds and wonderlands
Where one of us could easily fall through the cracks and find ourselves in a wasteland
