Whiplash - Kaleidoscope
I have grown used to the silence
That has descended upon my soul
An eerie emptiness meant to fill up all the holes
Left by the raids that was meant to build a new world
The more I read about it
The less I try to understand it
Because the pain I feel
Is just a drop in the endless ocean of their grief
Are they afraid to fall asleep, for what if they wake up in the past
Where the streets are wet with tears from the sky, overwhelmed by too many a whiplash
I recall the black words that stained the pages red
With all of the names, less survivors than the dead
Did they think it was the first snow of December as the ashes lay on their lashes
Did they mistake the yellow stars for a little hope but it all vanishes
The more I read about it
The less I try to understand it
Because the pain I feel
Is a drop in the endless ocean of their grief
Are they afraid to fall asleep, for what if they wake up in the past
Where the streets are wet with tears from the sky, overwhelmed by too many a whiplash
I have purged myself of the tyrants
Whose words have had an affect on me
A dubious understatement to how cruel some can be
I am fascinated by how powerful words can be,
Sharper than the mightiest sword, and more destructive than nuclear power
The more I read about it
The less I try to understand it
Because the pain I feel
Is just a drop in the endless ocean of their grief
Are they afraid to fall asleep, for what if they wake up in the past
Where the streets are wet with tears from the sky, overwhelmed by too many a whiplash.
