Achilles Heel - CANDOUR
All my life I've been wanting to be kissed by the sunset in Sicily
See the deep blue ink splash against the stone and so i let it be
But I have my thoughts running in overtime
Picking up pieces of your memory you left behind
And I just know I can't go back to sleep tonight
I swear I feel like I've never won a fight in my life
I've annihilated every trace of war touched by the sun's light
When bridges burn and tides begin to turn you realise
That the problem with secrecy is that sometimes we forget how to lie
After all that bloodshed, picture me in the sunset
Waiting like I'd forget how it felt if I left too soon
Losing is the key to mastering grief
And I've been gatekeeping that forever, I'm now bruised
I've questioned my life with or without you by my side
You're my Achilles heel even when all that is left of you is denial
I hate promises as much as I hate endless conversations but most of all I'd hate to be
Like all the relics of your past I hope to never discover
But as my scars begin to fade I watch as their stories of valour begin to disappear beneath the waves
I swear I feel like I could've won every fight I fought
But like sand runs through my fingers so did every rational thought
When the water under the bridge began to poison the banks
The ghosts of my ruined self began showing themselves
After all that bloodshed, picture me in the sunset
Waiting like I'd forget how it felt if I left too soon
Losing is the key to mastering grief
And I've been gatekeeping that forever, I'm now bruised
I've questioned my life with or without you by my side
You're my Achilles heel even when all that is left of you is denial.
