Aurora - CANDOUR
It was the old stones of hope, that pushed me over the line
You used to be the brilliant glow that stained every city skyline
But soon you began to fade away like a regrettable tattoo reminding you of a bad time
It was the murmurs of cold that made the scarlet letters news
You thought yourself a God but you were a silent thief on the loose
Everything is a lie until you say one thing that's true
You plundered every offering like it belonged to you
It was the murmurs of cold that made it so hard to apologize
You were wishing on endless pennies until the waters reached starboard side
Like frozen empathy stuck in a timeless loop
You kept looking for the exit but all you found again was a tainted version of you
It was the murmurs of cold that made the labyrinth realise
That with every turn you made you were beginning to lose sight
Everything you knew about yourself was now dark as night
But when the sun shone a little it was all ashen white
It was the murmurs of cold that froze your soul till it was numb
Pressed you for secrets you swore you would never let out
And you only get older when you feel too used
Until then you're just useful and everybody loves you
It was the murmurs of cold that made you realize
That when you said you had it figured out it was all just a helpless cry
It was painfully apparent that no one really thought you were cool
They thought you were just lucky and they could do it better than you.
