Epitaph - CANDOUR
How many secrets have you been harbouring?
The port is starting to get crowded
You say you'll drown it out with a glass too many
Now I see them as just an epitaph of your legacy
Mistakes are usually made with the intention of being right
But you're a stone cold island sinking into a warm sea out of sight
You curse every riptide that throws you back onto land
Your efforts have leached the life out of you, now all that's left is an epitaph so grand
Every blind turn we take seems to be a dead end
What is meant to be a one way out is an enigma of losing strength
The look we gave each other after that fateful night
Was truly one for the books about making bad decisions in the worst of times
All that old school violence and burdened happiness
Put me in a position of redeemable wealth one that could take me to great lengths
But we were both so young and that feeling soon began to pass
Now all that remains is an epitaph of our past.
