Boundaries - CANDOUR
Am I the diesel to your ego, or just a stain on your pride
While unnerving my hero, I'm fanning you to limitless skies
I thought I knew how far I could go for you
But the fences disappeared, the closer I got to you
The heavens are bailing on us now and calling us a farce
With our switching sides, and our telltale signs
I thought I knew what boundaries looked like
But they're just shape shifters trying to railroad me into thinking I'm fine
I could write a thousand stories detailing your heroic journeys
But my pages are blank after sitting on them, as I uncover you're an imposter
What a battle it was against my bleeding sword
As the paper repulsed every drop of ink unto them I forced
The heavens are bailing on us now and calling us a farce
With our switching sides, and our telltale signs
I thought I knew what boundaries looked like
But they're just shape shifters trying to railroad me into thinking I'm fine
Have I manipulated my mind, forced the red to turn light
Was I more afraid of the repercussions of having to live a lonesome life
I'm seeing my veins turn green, at the sight of your independency
But I've watched it turn scarlet blue at the thought of what might happen if I never leave you
The heavens are bailing on us now and calling us a farce
With our switching sides, and our telltale signs
I thought I knew what boundaries looked like
But they're just shape shifters trying to railroad me into thinking I'm fine
