Escape- Stories From the Afterlife

Candles, they keep me company
Carpets, with burns on both of my feet
Dark clouds, save a little for me
I promise to see you again

What is it like to be that free
With no shackles holding at your feet
Hot afternoons with sweet tea
I'd play this forever on repeat

All my money spent on lies
I stole enough to stay alive
Do they ask why?
Or do they tell you good bye

When your young they don't trust you
When your old enough they rob your views
They open up all your healed wounds
Make you wish they would die for you

Moonlight, on a cool night
Blankets, with no torn sides
Rendezvous, through the stone walls I hear you
I hope it's actually you

I hoped you were, waiting for me
Out on the train tracks, out of the city
Raided a carriage for me to escape
The last thing I saw was the smoky landscape

All my money spent on lies
I stole enough to stay alive
Do they ask why?
Or do they tell you good bye

When your young they don't trust you
When your old enough they rob your views
They open up all your healed wounds
Make you wish they would die for you

They closed all the borders, in light of the rain
The world we knew swallowed in by a wave
Ruining all the  plans we made in a haste
I held your hand I smiled and for once I felt alive
In over a thousand years no one to force me to

It was the end of a momentary adventure
But if I could, I'd play it forever and ever
If I meet you in another life, my only wish is that
I could feel for you the way I did in this life.
